Amigurumi Baby Octopus Free Pattern-1

Materials
– #6 Bulky yarn weight Premier Yarns – Parfait Chunky (you can use any yarn for this project)
– 4.5mm crochet hook
– A pair of 12mm safety eyes
– Polyester fiberfill for stuffing
– Yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker, sewing pins
– Optional: strand of pink yarn for cheeks and some embroidery floss or thin black yarn for the smile

Abbreviations
– BLO = crochet in the back loops only
– bo = bobble stitch (see ‘’Tips’’ section)
– ch = chain
– dec = invisible decrease (see ‘’Tips’’ section)
– inc = increase – crochet two single crochet stitches in the same stitch
– mr of n sc = crochet n (number) single crochet stitches into the magic ring (see ‘’Tips’’ section)
– pm = place a stitch marker
– sc = single crochet stitch
– n sc = crochet n single crochet stitches (or ch, hdc etc.), one in each stitch
– (4 sc, 1 inc) x n = repeat the pattern between parentheses n times
– sl st = slip stitch
– st(s) = stitch(es)
– (=36) = number of stitches in a round after finishing the round

Amigurumi Baby Octopus Free Pattern:

YARN UNDER
1- Insert the hook in the next stitch. Yarn under the hook and pull through.
2- Complete a single crochet stitch as usual: yarn over and draw through all loops.

BOBBLE STITCH
yo = yarn over
yo, insert hook in next stitch, yo, and pull through (3 loops on hook), yo pull through 2 (2 loops on hook).

Repeat this 3 more times or until you have 5 loops on your hook always in the same stitch.
yo, pull through all 5 loops.

INVISIBLE DECREASE
1- Insert the hook under the front loop of the first single crochet stitch. Do not yarn over.
2- Insert the hook under the front loop of the second stitch and pick it up onto the hook.
3- Yarn over and draw through the first two loops. Yarn over and draw through all loops.

HOW TO CLOSE AN OPENING
1- Once the last st is done, cut the yarn and leave a long tail and pull it out. Insert the needle from the outside going in (in the front loop only of the next st).
2- Now insert the needle from the inside going out in the next front loop.
3- Repeat around and pull on the yarn tail half way through. Hide the tail once the opening is closed.

1- mr of 8 sc (=8)
2- 8 inc (=16)
3- (3 sc, 1 inc) x4 (=20)
4 – 7 (4 rounds). 20 sc (=20)
8- (3 sc, 1 dec) x4 (=16)
Secure the eyes between rounds 5-6 with 3 sts in between.
9- BLO (pm in the 1st front loop of this round and do not remove it): 16 sc (=16)
Fasten off and cut a long yarn tail. Stuff the head and close the opening (see ‘’Tips’’ section).
Now making the tentacles…
Hold the head up and join a new piece of yarn into the front loop where the st marker is (you can
remove the marker now).
1- ch 1 (does not count as a st), bo into the same st, sl st into the next 2 front loops repeat everything
between around. (total of 8 bo)
PLEASE NOTE: the bo st should always be made in the SAME stitch as the 2nd sl st. That means that
there will be a bo made every other stitch.
Cut a short yarn tail, make a knot with the yarn tails and hide them inside the head.
Optional: embroider some cheeks under the eyes and a smile between rounds 5-6.
