Beard
For the beard of the New Year’s gnome, I use white Alize Softy Plus 55 yarn, and gray Alize Softy 224 for the forest gnome.
Attaching a beard is considered on the example of a forest gnome, but for the New Year’s, everything is exactly the same.
Using marker needles, define the beard attachment line:
Blue markers – 4 rows higher than the green part at the level of the beginning of the handle.
Pink markers are 3 rows higher than the green part and 4 sbn closer to the center relative to the blue ones.
White markers are 2 rows higher than the green part and 4 sbn closer to the center with respect to the pink ones.
Between white markers 6 sc.
If you connect all markers with one line, then you get the line of attachment of the first row of the beard.
As you can see from the photo below, the principle of calculating the beard attachment line for the New Year’s Gnome is the same. Only there is still a red marker – this is the place where the spout is attached.
To get the yarns of the length I need, I wind the yarn on a regular discount card.
Its size is universal, so you don’t have to measure or look for another suitable item.
The beard threads themselves need to be fastened in knots: fold the thread in half, hook it under the column outward, pull the free ends into the formed loop and tighten.
I use the second row of beard to thicken it. Be guided by the colored markers.
When the beard is ready, you need to sew on the nose, ears, glue the eyes (if they were not inserted earlier), and embroider the eyebrows.
Sew the nose 1 row above the beard.
Embroider eyebrows with Alize Softy thread just above the eyes. Do not try to embroider them higher, because then they will hide under the cap.
