I want to give you some informations about this amigurumi free pattern ; Penguin in a Hat.
We will need:
1) Yarn Art Dolce or Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn in gray (I needed more than half a skein), and a little white for the tummy, eyes.
2) Yellow cotton yarn (like YarnArt Jeans) for the paws and beak.
3) Pekhorka children’s novelty yarn for the hat and scarf.
4) Alize softy yarn for finishing the hat
5) Hooks No. 4.5, No. 2.5, No. 3
6) Filling for soft toys (hollow fiber, synthetic fluff, synthetic padding)
7) Needle, threads for sewing parts, scissors
8) Eyes D = 10 mm (I use sewn-on), a button for the scarf
The finished toy is 24 cm in size. The size depends on your knitting density and the thickness of the yarn (the same brand of yarn may vary in thickness depending on the batch number).
Legend:
p — loop;
ch — chain stitch;
pp — lifting loop;
sc — single crochet;
dc — double crochet;
inc — increase (knit 2 sc from one loop of the previous row);
ub — decrease (knit 2 sc together through the loops of the previous row);
(__p) — number of loops in this row.
All elements are knitted in spiral rows, without slip stitches (unless otherwise stated).
Amigurumi Penguin in a Hat Free Pattern:
The legs, body, and head of the toy are knitted as one piece. Stuff as you go.
LEGS + TORSO + HEAD
We use Yarn Art Dolce or Himalaya Dolphin Baby yarn in gray, hook #4.5.
Knit the first leg.
Row 1: 2 ch, in the second loop from the hook we knit 5 sc (5 sts)
Row 2: (inc) * 5 times (10 sts)
Row 3: (1 sc, inc) * 5 times (15 sts)
Row 4: knit without changes (15 sts)
Fasten off the thread, cut off.
Knit the second leg in the same way, do not cut the thread, make 1 ch and attach it to the first leg with a sc. This single crochet, which we attached, will be the beginning of the next row – this is the first loop of the row. Next, knit the body.
Row 5: (7 sc, inc) * 4 times (36 sts)
When knitting the first seven stitches, keep in mind that the first sc has already been knitted when attaching the leg, i.e. there are six more to come.
Rows 6-13: knit without changes (36 sts)
Row 14: (4 sc, dec) * 6 times (30 sts)
Row 15: knit without changes (30 sts)

Next, knit the head:

Row 30: (dec) * 6 times (6 sts), close completely, tighten the opening.
Fasten the thread, cut it, hide the tail.
WING (2 pcs)
1 row: 2 ch, in the second loop from the hook knit 6 sc (6 sts)

Do not stuff the wings. Fold in half and connect 4 sc.

PAWS (2 pcs.)
Use cotton or any other yellow yarn, #3 hook.
Row 1: 2 ch, knit 6 sc into the second loop from the hook (6 sts)
Row 2: (inc) * 6 times (12 sts)
Row 3: knit without changes (12 sts)
Row 4: (1 sc, inc) * 6 times (18 sts)
Rows 5-7: knit without changes (18 sts)
Row 8: (5 sc, inc) * 3 times (21 sts)
Rows 9-10: knit without changes (21 sts)
Row 11: (6 sc, inc) * 3 times (24 sts)
Rows 12-13: knit without changes (24 sts)
Lightly stuff the paws with filler.
Fold in half and connect 12 sc.
Cut the thread and fasten.
BEAK
Use cotton or any other yellow yarn, hook #3.
Row 1: 2 ch, in the second loop from the hook knit 6 sc (6 sts)

BELLY
We use Yarn Art Dolce (Himalaya Dolphin Baby) in white, hook #4.5.
1 row: 2 ch, in the second loop from the hook we knit 7 sc (7p)
2 row: (inc) * 7 times (14p)
3 row: (1 sc, inc) * 7 times (21p)
4 row: (2 sc, inc) * 7 times (28p)
5 row: (3 sc, inc) * 7 times (35p)
Cut the thread, fasten.
EYE WHITE (2 pcs.)
We use Yarn Art Dolce (Himalaya Dolphin Baby) in white, hook No. 4.5.
Row 1: 2 ch, in the second loop from the hook we knit 6 sc (6 sts)
Row 2: (inc) * 6 times (12 sts)
Cut the thread, fasten off.
HAT
We use Pekhorka children’s novelty yarn, hook No. 2.5. Crochet with double crochets.
1 row: knit 12 dc (12 sts) into the amigurumi ring
2 row: (inc) * 12 times (24 sts)
3 row: (1 dc, inc) * 12 times (36 sts)
4 row: (2 dc, inc) * 12 times (48 sts)
5 row: (3 dc, inc) * 12 times (60 sts)
6 row: (4 dc, inc) * 12 times (72 sts)
7-11 rows: knit without changes (72 sts)
Do not cut the thread, continue knitting the first EAR in turning rows:
1-4 rows: 3 pp, 15 dc
5 row: 3 pp, dec, 10 dc, dec, dc
6 row: 3 pp, dec, 8 dc, dec, dc
7 row: 3 pp,,
dec, 4 dc, dec, dc.
Cut the yarn and fasten it.
Next, count 22 stitches from the first loop (the visor will be in their place), attach the yarn, and knit the second loop in the same way.
VISOR
Knit with Alize softy yarn (hook #3 or 2.5) in place of the 22 skipped loops with double crochets in turning rows.
Attach the thread to the first loop:
Row 1: 3 pp, 21 dc
Row 2: 3 pp, dec, 16 dc, dec, dc
Row 3: 3 pp, dec, 14 dc, dec, dc
Row 4: 2 pp, 17 sc
Cut the thread and fasten it.
To give the hat a finished look, tie the hat around the perimeter with single crochets with Alize softy yarn.
SCARF
Knit a chain of ch of the required length, then 4 rows of sc (knit in turning rows). In the 2nd row, make a loop for the button. To do this, we knit 2 ch, then continue knitting sc, skipping 2 loops of the previous row.
ASSEMBLY:
1) Sew the wings to the body. You can use knitting yarn or Iris yarn to match the yarn.
2) Stuff the beak with stuffing and sew it on. Sew on the paws, belly, and whites of the eyes. I used Iris yarn to match the yarn.
3) Sew the eyes and a button to the scarf, and decorate as desired.
The penguin is ready!!!
